It allows for single-zone detection of an object regardless of its color, reflectivity, or texture. The sensor has a wide dynamic range and can detect objects at distances of up to 250cm. The device is capable of making highly accurate distance measurements within 5% and can operate in both dark and bright environments. A built-in histogram provides dynamic cover glass calibration and crosstalk compensation, and on-chip sunlight rejection filters reduce background light noise. The TMF8801 outputs data through an I2C fast-mode communications interface and an integrated microcontroller, which is featured with all algorithms included on-chip with no need for external optics.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
